A Sunday Afternoon Ramble

Warning – This post is me simply writing as I think! ;0)

Core Values, Your Mission in Life & Your Vision
With each and every day I am becoming more and more adamant that the thing we need most in life is clarity.

I posted on facebook a few days ago how I think we can learn a lot about how to live our lives through learning how to run a successful business.

To run a successful business, and to run your life, you need to understand yourself. So for those of you who are interested in getting the most out of life, here are some questions for you to consider.

What are your core values?
What is your mission in life?
How do you want you life to look five years from now? Three years from now? One year from now?

We get one chance to live the life of our dreams – those dreams are going to be incredibly different for each and every person reading this. But I think it is so important to sit down, have an honest chat with yourself, and figure out what those dreams are!!

So many of us waste time, every single day, on things that quite frankly do not matter……at all. We worry about things that do not matter…..at all. By understanding what is most important to you, you can focus your precious time and energy on these. The only result I can see coming from this is success, growth and happiness.

I beg you to think about this. I see too many people just going through the motions.

What is it that inspires you? What is it that drives you? What is it that get’s you jumping out of bed in the morning with a big smile on your face? Now I could go to the extreme and say quit your job and do what you love but I appreciate it isn’t always this easy. But why not use what time you do have more effectively? What do you do on your commute to work? Is it something that is helping you grow as a person? Is it something that’s important to you?

Take Action
Set yourself a goal, a mission in life. Then reflect on this. In your mind, go in to the future to a point when you have accepted the mission and you are in full swing. How is this mission in life going to effect your relationships? How is it going to effect your finances? How is it going to effect your work? If you think it will effect these (or any other aspect of your life) are you OK with this? Do you really have the desire to do this? Is it what you really want?

This is important to do – I’ve been in the situation where I have decided to do something, dedicated myself to it for 6 months and then realised that I hadn’t properly thought it through. Did I enjoy the journey? You bet ya! But if I had thought about how that mission would have effected different aspects of my life, would I have made a different decision? And could I have used those 6 months to pursue a goal which matched my core values, my life’s mission and my vision. YES!

The Importance of a Community
If you do have something you want to achieve – perhaps discuss it with your partner or close friends. Ask them for their support in this – build a community which will help you achieve this. Are they ready to make the most out of life also?

This is something I hope to create for those that want it. A community who genuinely want to improve, who want to live a healthier, happier life. This is possible, this is realistic, this is achievable, and it will happen.

I experienced the importance and benefit of a community last weekend while training at The Commando Temple in Deptford. It was a big reason why I signed up for Strong First. Having met many people who had completed this certification, I was amazed at how open, friendly and inspiring they all were. Ready to give advice and coaching to ensure my success. This is important when starting out on a new journey.

In Conclusion
As I could continue writing this all afternoon and in to the evening I will stop by saying that all I want from this post is for one person to acknowledge these thoughts and take action (it’s a start right?). Do NOT be the person who reads this, thinks that it was a good post (hopefully) and then forgets about it. Write down the questions, or print them off, sit down tonight and have an honest discussion with yourself about what you want to achieve with this one opportunity.

Or better still, if you live in the Weybridge area, call me to arrange a free face-to-face consultation where we can discuss what your goals are and how, together, we can reach them. Their is a world class facility sitting on your door step with world class coaches just waiting to help you achieve your ‘mission impossible’.
